BUG: Open .DBF-Style Help Interferes w/ CatMan Run & Print

Last reviewed: April 30, 1996
Article ID: Q115860
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft FoxPro for Windows, version 2.6
  • Microsoft FoxPro for MS-DOS, versions 2.6

SYMPTOMS

If the .DBF-style help window is open, choosing the Run or Print button in the Program, Screen, Report, or Label tabs in the Catalog Manager causes the help window to display in the foreground.

RESOLUTION

Manually close the help window before printing or running the program, screen, report, or label.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

Unlike an open Help window, if a program, screen, report, or label window is open, choosing the Run or Print button causes the following error message to be displayed:

You must close all query, screen, report, label, and
program windows before running the specified program.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

  1. In FoxPro for Windows, type the following in the Command window (assuming the main FoxPro directory is called FPW26 and is on drive C):

          SET HELP TO C:\FPW26\FOXHELP.DBF

  2. From the File menu, choose Catalog Manager.

  3. If a catalog automatically opens, choose Open Catalog from the File menu.

  4. Select SAMPLE.FPC, which is located in the FPW26\SAMPLE\CATALOG subdirectory. Choose Open.

  5. Press F1 to open help. Minimize help.

  6. Select the Screen tab. Choose Run.

Note that the minimized help window opens and displays in the foreground. The screen will not run until the help window is closed.
