PRB: Two Versions of FoxPro for Windows Won't Run at Same TimeLast reviewed: June 27, 1995Article ID: Q118740 |
The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen attempting to start a different version of FoxPro for Windows with a version of FoxPro for Windows already running, a second instance of the version that is already running will be started. For example, if FoxPro for Windows version 2.6 is invoked and FoxPro for Windows version 2.5b is already running, another instance of FoxPro version 2.5b will start.
RESOLUTIONTo have two versions of FoxPro for Windows running simultaneously, rename one of the FOXPROW.EXE files. If possible, the earlier version of the two should be renamed to prevent any problems in the event that the Distribution Kit needs to be installed. (FOXPROW.EXE is modified during the installation of the Distribution Kit.)
MORE INFORMATIONIf a program module is present in memory, Windows does not allow a filename to be executed if it is going to load the same module name. Instead, Windows issues a second instance of the module that is already running.
