SYMPTOMS

FoxPro for Macintosh exits to the operating system after a variable is defined in the Report Writer variable definition setup if the variable's name is contains 11 or more characters.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use a shorter variable name.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in FoxPro versions 2.5b and 2.5c. This problem was corrected in FoxPro version 2.6a for Macintosh.

MORE INFORMATION

In FoxPro 2.6a, a variable name of more than 10 characters will produce the error message "Invalid Variable Name."
