PRB: Screen GET Field FORMAT Editing Options Disabled

SYMPTOMS

Some of the screen GET field FORMAT editing options are disabled. The Check boxes for (Negative), CR if Positive, and DB if Negative are grayed out and unavailable for selection in the Screen Builder GET numeric field FORMAT editing options.

NOTE: This does not apply to FoxPro for MS-DOS.

CAUSE

This is normal behavior for the format editing options on a numeric GET field, however, the area surrounding these choices is identified as "Editing Options" which may be misleading. Editing options implies that the actual data which is input will be affected by these format options, but this is not the case.

RESOLUTION

The options: (Negative), CR if Positive, and DB if Negative will be available if the field is a SAY field. This will work as expected because these options are in fact display format options rather than input editing options. In other words, they do not directly affect the format of the input of the data but will affect the output display of that data.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
