PRB: Excluded Encrypted App in Project Makes New App Encrypted

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft FoxPro for Windows, version 2.6a

SYMPTOMS

Under Project, Options, the Encrypted check box is enabled even though it was never selected.

CAUSE

You have included in your project, as an excluded object, an APP file that was built with encryption.

WORKAROUND

There are two workarounds. If you want to include a reference to another application (app file) in your project, and that project was built with encryption, rebuild the referenced project without encryption.

Alternatively, remove the referenced app file from your project. Then choose Options from the Project menu, and ensure that the Encryption check box is cleared.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

Create two projects, Project A and Project B. Build Project B with encryption turned on. In Project A, choose the Add button and add in a reference to the Project B application file. The resulting A.APP file will be built with encryption turned on. To check this, choose Options from the Project menu; you will see that the Encryption check box is checked.
