The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft FoxPro for Windows, versions 2.5, 2.5a, 2.5b, 2.6, 2.6a
  • Microsoft FoxPro for MS-DOS, versions 2.5, 2.5a, 2.5b, 2.6, 2.6a

SYMPTOMS

The FoxPro DIR command returns an incorrect number of bytes remaining on the drive when FoxPro is running under Windows NT version 3.5 Server or Workstation. When the remaining free space on the default drive is more than 1023932928 bytes, the DIR command does not see it. This applies to both FAT and NTFS partitions with free disk space over 1 GB.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Visual FoxPro version 3.0 for Windows.

MORE INFORMATION

Steps to Reproduce Problem

  1. Set the default directory to a drive that has over 1 GB of free space.

  2. Issue a DIR command in the FoxPro Command window.

  3. Compare the number of bytes remaining on the drive to the number of bytes free reported by the Windows NT File Manager.
