SYMPTOMSWhen you run Setup.exe to install a Visual FoxPro application, you may receive this error:
Unable to start DDE communication with Program Manager CAUSEThis error occurs when you are using a shell other than Program Manager for Windows or Explorer for Windows 95. For example, Norton Desktop for Windows version 2.0 does not handle shell dynamic data exchange (DDE). For compatibility reasons, Progman.exe does not perform DDE unless it is the active shell in Windows 95.
RESOLUTIONTo avoid this error, use Explorer.exe as the shell for Windows 95 and Program Manager for Windows 3.1. You can load Norton Desktop for Windows as an application.
STATUSThis behavior is by design.
