PRB: "Report File Invalid" Error When Creating a New Report

Last reviewed: April 29, 1996
Article ID: Q94809
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft FoxPro for MS-DOS, versions 2.0, 2.5, and 2.5a
  • Microsoft FoxPro for Windows, versions 2.5 and 2.5a

SYMPTOMS

When you create a new report by choosing New from the File menu, the "Report File Invalid" error message appears even though the report has not yet been created.

CAUSE

This error message appears because there is a file named UNTITLED.FRX. This is the name that all new reports are given before they are saved. In this case, the UNTITLED.FRX file already exists because a report may have been saved with this name or a report form that had not yet been saved may have been open when FoxPro was exited improperly.

RESOLUTION

Delete the UNTITLED.FRX file. You should now be able to create the new report.
