SUMMARYMicrosoft FoxPro can run as an MS-DOS application with Microsoft Windows version 3.0 or 3.1. For best results, run FoxPro in standard mode and Windows in 386 enhanced mode. Your machine should have at least 2 megabytes (MB) of LIM 4.0 memory available; additional memory will help to improve performance. Make sure that you have ample hard disk space for the swap file and that you use use a defragmentation utility to reduce the amount of disk activity required to load files.
MORE INFORMATIONIn 386 enhanced mode, creating a permanent swap file provides much better performance than allowing Windows to create a temporary swap file. This is especially true when only a small amount of memory is available. However, the permanent swap file does consume disk space. To access FoxPro more easily, create a group and an icon for FoxPro in Windows 3.0 by doing the following:
