The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft FoxPro for Windows, versions 2.5 and 2.5a
  • Microsoft FoxPro for MS-DOS, versions 2.0, 2.5, and 2.5a

To create an entry screen that allows data to be entered from right to left, similar to a calculator, use the following code:

   CLEAR
   SET TALK OFF
   STORE '' TO a
   @ 2,2 SAY SPACE(10) COLOR w+/r
   FOR y = 10 TO 1 STEP -1
       z=INKEY(0)
       a=a+CHR(z)
       x=SPACE(y)+a
       @ 2,2 SAY x COLOR w+/r
   ENDFOR

NOTE: The variable that displays the number must be a character variable. After the information is completely entered, the VAL() function can be used to convert the character variable to a numeric variable. Also, additional code can be added to this short sample to restrict the entry of numeric values.
