Linked .BMP File Requires Same Space as EmbeddedLast reviewed: April 29, 1996Article ID: Q96354 |

Page D13-5 of the FoxPro for Windows version 2.5 "Developer's Guide" states that linking an OLE object will "use less space than if all client applications embedded their own copy." This, however, does not always hold true when linking .BMP files. Most Windows-based applications that can act as an OLE client will store the bitmap representation of a linked .BMP file as well as the link information so that the bitmap can be viewed from within the client application. Because both the bitmap representation and the link information are stored in an FPT file, a linked .BMP file can require slightly more disk space than one that is embedded.
