PRB: Display of LIST Command Slower Under Windows Than MS-DOS

SYMPTOMS

In FoxPro version 2.5 for Windows, when output from the LIST command is directed to the screen, LIST does not produce results as quickly as it does when used in FoxPro for MS-DOS.

CAUSE

This slowdown occurs because the Windows environment displays output in pixels rather than characters, which are used to display output in the MS-DOS environment.

RESOLUTION

To speed up the display of output from the LIST command, direct the command to display in a user-defined window rather than on the desktop.

Also, if you are using a 256-color video driver, try switching to a 16- color video driver.
