SYMPTOMSWhen you browse an HyperText Markup Language (HTML) page that contains a FrontPage component, either by clicking the Preview tab at the bottom of the FrontPage window or by clicking the Preview In Browser button on the Standard toolbar, you may receive the following error message:
This page contains elements that may need to be saved or published to display properly. CAUSEFrontPage components that interact with a Web server will not function when you create a disk-based FrontPage Web. Browse-time components will only function when using a HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP) server on which you have installed the FrontPage 98 Server Extensions.
WORKAROUNDTo work around this behavior, use the appropriate method for your situation.
Method 1: If You are Using Components that Interact with a Web ServerPublish Active Server Pages and/or the Internet Database Connector on one of the following server configurations:
Method 2: If You are Using Browse-Time ComponentsTo enable FrontPage browse-time components, publish your disk-based Web to an HTTP server. For more information about publishing a FrontPage Web to an HTTP server, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Determining whether you are using a disk-based Web or server-based WebTo determine whether you have a disk-based Web or a server-based Web, open your Web in FrontPage Explorer and look at the title bar. If the title of your Web contains a drive letter and one or more backslashes, like this:
c:\mywebyour Web is disk-based. If the title of your Web contains "http" and forward slashes, like this
http://mywebyour Web is server-based.
