Cannot Change Event Sound by Typing Sound Name in Box

SYMPTOMS

When you type the name of a sound (.wav) file in the Event Sound box on the Sound tab in the Volume & Sounds Properties dialog box, the typed input does not change the event sound.

RESOLUTION

To change an event sound, use one of the following methods:

  • Tap one of the sounds listed in the Event Sound box, and then tap OK.
  • Tap Browse, locate and tap a .wav file, tap OK, and then tap OK again.
