The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows 95
  • Microsoft Plus! for Windows 95

SYMPTOMS

If you drag a text selection from Internet Explorer to WordPad, the selected text does not appear in WordPad.

CAUSE

You can only drag Rich Text Format (RTF) clipboard-format information into WordPad. Internet Explorer exports information in CF_TEXT format.

RESOLUTION

Instead of dragging the selection from Internet Explorer to WordPad, select the text in Internet Explorer, and then click Copy on the Edit menu. In WordPad, click Paste on the Edit menu to paste the text.

STATUS

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

Although WordPad cannot accept information in CF_TEXT format, it indicates that it can by changing the mouse pointer to show that the information will be accepted (indicated by a rectangle and a plus sign (+) at the bottom of the mouse pointer).
