mail in Internet Mail.
MORE INFORMATION
When you compose a message in Internet Mail and send it, the message is
saved in the OutBox folder until it can be sent. To send messages that are
waiting in your OutBox folder, Click Send And Receive on the Mail menu.
Check the Sent Items folder to see if the message was sent by Internet
Mail to your mail server properly. Make sure the option to save sent
messages is enabled in Internet Mail. To do this, follow these steps:
- On the Mail menu, click Options.
- Click the Send tab.
- Click the "Save a copy of sent messages in the 'Sent Mail' folder"
check box to select it.
- Click OK.
If this option is enabled and messages are copied to the Sent Items
folder, but still do not reach the recipient, contact your Internet
service provider (ISP).
If messages remain in the OutBox folder, there may be a problem with your
mail server settings. Try the following steps to help determine the cause
of the problem.
- Configure Internet Mail to use a manually dialed connection. To
do this, follow the steps below:
1. On the Mail menu, click Options.
2. Click the Connection tab, and then click the I Connect Manually
option.
- Manually dial the Dial-Up Networking connection for your ISP to confirm
it is working properly. If this does not work, you need to troubleshoot
your Dial-Up Networking Connection.
- While you are connected, attempt to send and receive mail as described
above. If this works properly, the Dial-Up Networking connection
selected in Internet Mail is not working properly. Select another
connection or create a new one for your ISP.
- Verify that your Internet connection settings are correct. To do so,
follow these steps:
1. On the Mail menu, click Options.
2. Click the Connections tab and verify the connection information is
correct. If you are connecting using a modem, verify the Dial-Up
Networking connection is your ISP.
- Verify your Outgoing Mail (SMTP) settings. To do this, follow these
steps:
1. On the Mail menu, click Options.
2. Click the Server tab and verify that the Outgoing Mail(SMTP)
information matches the information supplied by your ISP.
3. Click Advanced Settings. The default server port numbers are 25 for
outgoing and 110 for incoming mail. Unless specified by your ISP,
these number should not be altered.
