The protocol specified in the address is not valid. Make sure the
address is correct, and try again.

CAUSE

The PowWow Internet Chat service is not compatible with Internet Explorer version 3.0

STATUS

Microsoft is aware of this situation and will post more information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

Tribal Voice has made a patch available on their Web site that allows PowWow to work with Internet Explorer 3.0 for Windows 95. You can obtain the patch at:

   http://www.tribal.com/powwow/msie30.htm

Microsoft has not tested this patch and does not support it.

Internet Explorer 3.01 for Windows 95 supports the DDE function WWW_RegisterProtocol. This allows PowWow to function correctly with Internet Explorer 3.01. However, there is a problem using PowWow to visit sites that contain frames that may cause a general protection (GP) fault or may cause your computer to stop responding (hang).
