Last reviewed: August 28, 1997
Article ID: Q159544
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 2.0, 2.01, 2.1, 3.0, 3.01, 3.02a for Windows 3.1

SYMPTOMS

When you load a Web page in any of the Microsoft Internet Explorer for Windows 3.1 versions listed above, the background image or color associated with the page may not be displayed properly.

CAUSE

When Internet Explorer for Windows 3.1 loads a Web page, it loads the background image and other images after loading the text and all other content on the page. If Internet Explorer is unable to completely load the Web page for some reason, the background image may not be displayed completely or at all.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, scroll down in the Internet Explorer window, or minimize and then restore the Internet Explorer window. The contents of the window are redrawn, and the background image or color should be displayed properly.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
