SYMPTOMS When you are using Internet Explorer to view an .avi file in a local Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) document using Microsoft ActiveMovie, the following error message may occur:
Dr. Watson An application error has occurred and an application error log is being generated. IExplore.exe Exception: Access Violation (0xc0000005), Address: 0x01487ab8This error may also occur if you run the .avi file and then quit Internet Explorer.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, use either of the following methods:
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Internet Explorer 3.01 for Windows NT 4.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
