Some Images Not Displayed in Internet Explorer

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 3.0, 3.01, 3.02a for Windows 3.1

SYMPTOMS

When you are using Novell LAN WorkPlace and you attempt to use Internet Explorer to access Web pages, some of the images on the Web pages may not be displayed.

CAUSE

This problem can occur when there are not enough available sockets to transfer all the text and images from the Web page. By default, LAN WorkPlace uses eight sockets for Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) transfers and eight sockets for User Datagram Protocol (UDP) transfers. This may not be enough sockets to transfer all the text and images from a Web page. This problem typically occurs with images, because unlike text, each individual image on a Web page is transferred using a different socket.

RESOLUTION

To attempt to resolve this issue, contact Novell Technical Support for an updated version of the LAN WorkPlace Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol that uses a higher number of sockets by default. Note that you may be able to work around the issue by clicking Refresh on the toolbar in Internet Explorer until the all of the images are displayed.
