Computer Tries to Connect to the Internet When Started

SYMPTOMS

When you start your computer, it may try to connect to the Internet.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the Personal Web Server program is installed on your computer, and it is configured to connect to the Internet when your computer starts.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, configure Personal Web Server so that it does not connect to the Internet when your computer starts. To do so, use the following steps:

  1. On the Apple menu, click Control Panels.

  2. Double-click Personal Web Manager.

  3. Under Publishing, click Stop, and then close the Personal Web Manager Control Panel.
