SYMPTOMS

When you are downloading a file in Internet Explorer, file size or estimated remaining time may not be indicated.

CAUSE

The file you are downloading is located on a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) Web site and this information is not available for the file.

MORE INFORMATION

When you download a file from an FTP Web site, the file size is typically unknown. For this reason, the estimated remaining time cannot be calculated. Instead, Internet Explorer displays the amount of the file opened so far.
