The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen you install Internet Explorer version 4.0, some Internet Mail and News settings may be lost. In particular, user interface settings (including toolbar, status bar, preview pane, column, and sort settings) and format settings for sending mail may be lost.
CAUSEWhen you install Internet Explorer version 4.0, Microsoft Outlook Express version 4.0 is installed as an upgrade to Internet Mail and News. Some Internet Mail and News settings are not saved during the upgrade process because the settings have changed significantly in Outlook Express.
RESOLUTIONAfter you install Internet Explorer version 4.0, manually set any Internet Mail and News settings that were not saved.
MORE INFORMATIONUser interface settings and format settings for sending mail are not retained when you upgrade to Outlook Express version 4.0. If you customize these settings in Internet Mail and News, the custom settings are lost when you upgrade to Outlook Express. All other Internet Mail and News settings are maintained when you upgrade to Outlook Express.
