Err Msg: Internet Explorer 4.0 Was Not Successfully Installed

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to install Internet Explorer, you may receive the following error message:

   Internet Explorer 4.0 was not successfully installed

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if one or more of the Internet Explorer cabinet (.cab) files is damaged and Authenticode 2.0 is not installed on your computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Install Authenticode 2.0. For information about how to do so, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

          http://www.microsoft.com/msdownload/authentall2.htm
    

  2. Connect to the Internet, and then start the Internet Explorer Active Setup Wizard to reinstall Internet Explorer.
