The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSAfter you install Internet Explorer, restart your computer, and then log on to Windows NT 4.0, the System32 folder may be opened on your desktop instead of the "Welcome - Microsoft Internet Explorer" screen. In addition, the System32 folder may be opened when you attempt to open a channel. In both cases, the following message is displayed in Event Viewer:
Event ID 10010 The server {0002df01-0000-0000-c000-00000000046} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout. RESOLUTIONTo work around this problem, use either of the following methods:
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Internet Explorer 4.0 and 4.01. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
