SYMPTOMSWhen you click About Internet Explorer on the Help menu, you may receive the following error message:

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.If you click Details, you may see the following error message:
EXPLORER caused an invalid page fault in module MSHTML.DLL at <address> Windows NT
An application error has occurred and an application error log is being generated. explorer.exe Exception: access violation (0xc0000005), Address: <address>When you click Close, you may receive the same error message, and then the Active Desktop Recovery screen may be displayed.
CAUSEThis behavior can occur if you click OK without releasing the mouse button and you then right-click the globe graphic in the upper-left corner of the dialog box.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the products listed above. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
