SYMPTOMSWhen you compress or uncompress a drive that uses the NT file system (NTFS) on a computer running Internet Explorer, you may receive the following Dr. Watson error message:
Explorer.exe - Exception: access violation (0xc0000005) STATUSMicrosoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
MORE INFORMATIONThis error message occurs after the compression or uncompression of the drive using NTFS is complete. You may not receive this error message when you compress or uncompress a folder or file on a drive using NTFS. The Active Desktop component of Internet Explorer does not affect this behavior.
