Internet Explorer FTP Cannot 'PUT' (Upload) Files

SYMPTOMS

You cannot find a PUT option in Internet Explorer. You can successfully download files using the FTP option from Internet Explorer but you cannot upload files to a remote FTP server.

CAUSE

Internet Explorer, like many other Web browsers, does not currently have FTP PUT capability.

WORKAROUND

Use a standard FTP program to write files to a remote FTP server.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Internet Information Server version 1.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
