  • Microsoft Internet Information Server version 1.0 ---------------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS

When you try to use Server Push with Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS), the browsers will prompt you to save a file. The Server Push uses the multipart/x-mixed mime type.

CAUSE

Microsoft Internet Information Server version 1.0 does not implement the Server Push function.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Internet Information Server version 1.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

The server push function is normally used to display data on the client without your input. For example, a web server can push a Please Wait message to the client after a database query is submitted. This would prevent the user from pressing the submit button again causing another query to be queued.
