SUMMARYThis article describes how to associate a file extension in Visual InterDev with Source Editor. For example, associating the file extension .shtml with Source Editor would allow you to double-click on an .shtml file and have it displayed with the proper color coding.
MORE INFORMATIONThe example below associates the .shtml file extension with a source editor. Before performing the steps below, make sure Visual InterDev is closed. WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious, system-wide problems that may require you to reinstall Windows to correct them. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use this tool at your own risk. Use the following steps to associate a file extension with a filetype (this causes the correct icon to appear next to the file in the project):
