The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSOn clean installs of the CHS versions of Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0, sometimes the Query Designer's graphics pane doesn't display table names. Instead, square boxes are displayed in the Table window.
CAUSEThis appears to be a problem with the system font. The Query Designer is looking for an Arial true type fonts during startup. If it fails to find it on the machine, it uses the system an ANSI version of Arial font.
RESOLUTIONLook for and install Arial fonts with one of the following styles GB2312_CHARSET CHINESEBIG5_CHARSET.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this bug and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
