This behavior can occur if you have pen or touch-screen device software installed on the computer. This software can turn off the Number Lock keyboard setting.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, you can temporarily disable the pen or touch-screen device. To disable the device, use the following steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

  2. Double-click System.

  3. Click the Device Manager tab.

  4. Double-click the Ports branch to expand it.

  5. Double-click the port to which the pen or touch-screen device is connected.

  6. In the Device Usage area on the General tab, click the Original Configuration (Current) check box to clear it.

NOTE: If you are using Windows 95 OEM Service Release 2, click the Disable In This Hardware Profile check box to select it.

  7. Click OK.

  8. If you are prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.
