The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Mouse Driver for MS-DOS, version 9.0

The Microsoft Mouse driver version 9.0 and Microsoft Mouse Manager for MS-DOS do not update the MOUSE.INI file specified by the SET MOUSE statement in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file. The MOUSE.INI file located in the same directory as the MOUSE.EXE file is the only one that is updated.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft Mouse driver for MS-DOS version 9.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

Note: The Microsoft Mouse driver version 9.0 and Microsoft Mouse Manager are available for both MS-DOS and Windows. The driver for Windows does update the MOUSE.INI file specified by the SET MOUSE statement in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file.
