Error Message: Cannot Find the Ipoint.hlp File

SYMPTOMS

When you click the Help button on the IntelliPoint toolbar, you may receive the following error message:

   Cannot find the Ipoint.hlp file. Do you want to try to find this file
   yourself?

If you click No, you receive the following error message:

   Cannot find the Ipoint.hlp Help file. Check to see that the file
   exists on your disk. If it doesn't, you need to reinstall it.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you use the BothButton mouse option to start the IntelliPoint toolbar.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:

  1. When you receive the error message, click Yes.

  2. Locate and double-click the folder containing IntelliPoint. By default, IntelliPoint is located in the Msinput folder.

  3. Double-click the Mouse folder, and then double-click the Ipoint.hlp file.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft IntelliPoint software version 1.1 for Windows 95. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
