Last reviewed: April 7, 1997
Article ID: Q166007
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft IntelliMouse version 1.0
  • Microsoft IntelliPoint software version 2.0

SYMPTOMS

When you install the IntelliPoint software version 2.0 on a computer with a mouse or pointing device with a low pixels-per-inch (PPI) rating, the pointer speed may gradually decrease as you use the mouse.

CAUSE

Some older pointing devices have a rating of 100 PPI. These devices are less sensitive than the IntelliMouse, which has a rating of 400 PPI.

RESOLUTION

Replace your older, slower pointing device with an updated pointing device with a rating of 400 PPI.
