SYMPTOMSIf you have an open menu in an Office 97 program and you move the mouse pointer out of the program window and onto the desktop, you may receive the following error message:
EXPLORER caused an invalid page fault in module COMCTL32.DLLThis error message occurs only when the program is running in a window (is not maximized).
CAUSEThis error message can occur if you have version 2.0 of the IntelliPoint software installed and you have enabled the Focus or SmartSpeed option (or both options) on the StepSavers tab in the Mouse tool in Control Panel.
RESOLUTIONTo work around this problem, follow these steps:
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
