Cannot Change EasyBall Pointer When Using IntelliPoint Software

Last reviewed: November 20, 1997
Article ID: Q177041
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft EasyBall version 1.0
  • Microsoft IntelliPoint software versions 1.1, 2.0, 2.1

SYMPTOMS

If you select an animated cursor scheme using the Microsoft IntelliPoint software, the pointer may not change when you use the Microsoft EasyBall, and you cannot change the EasyBall cursor scheme in PointerLand.

CAUSE

The EasyBall software uses the IntelliPoint or the default cursor scheme when you use the mouse, and the PointerLand cursor scheme when you use the EasyBall. When you select an animated cursor scheme using the IntelliPoint software, the EasyBall software cannot determine whether you are using the mouse or the EasyBall. As a result, the same cursor scheme is used for both devices.

RESOLUTION

To allow the mouse and the EasyBall to use different cursor schemes, use the IntelliPoint software to select a non-animated cursor scheme for the mouse, and then use PointerLand to select a cursor scheme for the EasyBall.
