Serial Mouse Stops Responding When You Add a New Printer

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Add New Printer wizard to install a new printer in Microsoft Windows 95 OEM Service Release 2 (OSR2), your serial mouse may stop responding (hang).

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, restart the computer. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Press CTRL+ESC to open the Start menu.

  2. Press the UP ARROW key to select Shut Down, and then press ENTER.

  3. Use the UP or DOWN ARROW keys to select Restart, and then press ENTER.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft IntelliPoint software versions 2.0 and 2.1.
