SYMPTOMSWhen you use a Microsoft Mouse or Microsoft IntelliMouse on a computer with an internal pointing device (such as a trackball, fingerpoint key, or touch pad), you may experience one or more of the following problems:
CAUSEThe problems listed above can occur if there is a conflict between the internal pointing device and the external mouse.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve a conflict between an internal pointing device and your Microsoft Mouse or IntelliMouse so that the external mouse works properly, you can try connecting your mouse to a COM port using the serial adapter included with your Microsoft mouse, or disable the internal pointing device on your computer. For information about how to disable the internal pointing device on your computer, consult the documentation for your computer or contact your computer's manufacturer.
