Office: Disk 24 Skipped During Typical Installation

The information in this article applies to:

- Microsoft Office for Windows, version 4.2

SUMMARY

When you perform a Typical installation of Microsoft Office version 4.2 for Windows, the setup program will not ask you to insert Disk 24. Instead, it will skip to Disk 25 and complete the installation process.

MORE INFORMATION

This problem occurs because none of the files contained on Disk 24 are meant to be installed during a Typical installation. Disk 24 contains the following types of files:

   File Names Definition
   ----------------------------------------------------------------
*.WM_ Windows metafiles (for Microsoft ClipArt Gallery)
   *.TT_ TrueType fonts
   GENIGPRH.DR_ GeniGraphics printer driver
   GRAFLINK.EX_ GraphicsLink application
GRAFLINK.IN_ INI file for GraphicsLink application
   PPTGENI.HL_ Microsoft PowerPoint/GeniGraphics help file

Because none of these files are required for a Typical installation, the setup program will not ask you to insert Disk 24 while a Typical installation is in progress.
