Office: Setup Continues with Insufficient Disk SpaceLast reviewed: September 16, 1996Article ID: Q120732 |
The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen you install Microsoft Office, the Setup program may continue after checking available disk space--even when there is not enough disk space to complete the installation. After you install a number of disks, the following error message appears:
Could not write to the file named: <filename>. Please verify that destination drive has enough disk space. CAUSEWhen you start the Setup program, it compares available disk space to the amount of disk space required to complete the installation. This initial check allows you to quit the Setup program and free up additional disk space; however, Setup does not automatically stop if there is not enough disk space available.
STATUSThis feature is by design of Microsoft Office Setup.
MORE INFORMATIONLocal, network server, and workstation installations of Microsoft Office versions 4.2 and 4.3 require approximately 2500K [2.5 megabytes (MB)] of disk space to use for decompressing files used by the Setup program. While this additional space is required during the setup, it is made available after setup is complete.
