SYMPTOMS

When you use Lotus Notes and choose the File Import/Export drop-down list, the Microsoft Excel, Word, or PowerPoint options may be listed more than once.

CAUSE

Each time you reinstall Office or any of the programs listed at the beginning of this article, new information is added to the Notes.ini file. The Import\Export list is generated based on information in the .ini file. If there are multiple entries of a product in this file, the Import\Export list will also contain multiple entries.

STATUS

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, manually edit the Notes.ini file to remove the duplicate entries.
