SUMMARY

Keywords are used to categorize all articles in the Microsoft Knowledge Base and to make information easier to find. Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and Microsoft Word articles contain some additional product-specific keywords. The following information describes these keywords and explains how they can be used to search for specific types of articles.

Additional Query Words

Words in the "Additional query words" line at the end of an article include the following:

   acronyms (such as gpf, mom, dal, dam, odbc, atp, osbp, sbfm)

   alternate spellings or word choices (such as Novel, toolpack, tool pack,
   hang crash, lock up, freeze, won't respond, interop)

   howto (This word appears in articles that describe a procedure that is
   not necessarily a problem or a bug. It is typically used for
   informational articles.)

   words that don't appear in the article that you might use to find
   the article (For example, the words XL5 and MXL5 generally appear in
   the title of articles that ONLY apply to version 5.0 of Microsoft Excel
   for Windows or for the Macintosh, respectively. Due to the limited
   number of characters allowed in the title, this keyword may appear in
   the Additional query words line instead.)
