  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, version 5.0
  • Microsoft Mail for Windows, versions 3.0 and 3.2

SYMPTOMS

When you address a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet routing form using version 3.0 or 3.2 of Microsoft Mail for Windows Personal Address Book (PAB), the form will fail after the first user has read the spreadsheet and attempts to route it on to next recipient with the following error message:

   General mail failure

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Excel for Windows version 5.0c for systems using a single post office. However, systems using multiple post offices may still experience the problem.
