SYMPTOMSWhen you run the Microsoft Office Setup program on a Pinnacle Tahoe Model 130 drive, you may receive the following error message
A disk I/O error occurred while Setup was attempting to install the file shown below. This may indicate that a physical defect exists on your installation disk. <folder or drive>:Install Disk 15:MacWord.68kwhere <folder or drive> is the folder on the network from which you are running Setup, or the drive that contains the Install disk. Note that the filename, and the number of the Install Disk that appear in the error message may be different. When you choose the Exit Setup button, the following error message appears:
Microsoft Office 4.2 Setup was not completed successfully. CAUSEThis problem occurs because the Macintosh operating system sees the Pinnacle Tahoe Model 130 drive, which is an optical hard drive, as removable media. Microsoft Office is not supported on an optical hard drive. The Office Setup program will fail with the above error message when you install Microsoft Office on the Pinnacle Tahoe Model 130 drive. Note that this problem does not occur with the Pinnacle Tahoe model 100 or model 230.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
