The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen you perform a Typical installation of Microsoft Office, the Microsoft PowerPoint Readme Help file is installed, but the Microsoft Excel Readme Help file and the Word Readme Help file are not installed.
CAUSEThis is by design of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. During a Typical installation of Microsoft Word, the Readme Help file is not installed. Note that when you perform a Typical installation of Microsoft Office for the Macintosh, the Microsoft Excel Readme Help file IS installed. However, when you perform a Typical installation of Microsoft Office for the Power Macintosh, this file is not installed.
WORKAROUNDSTo install the Word Readme Help file, or the Microsoft Excel Readme Help file, do the following:
