Last reviewed: September 16, 1996
Article ID: Q135198
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for Windows, version 6.0
  • Microsoft Office for Windows 95, version 7.0, 7.0b
  • Microsoft Windows 95

SYMPTOMS

In programs that support OLE (such as Microsoft Office for Windows), the Paste-Link command is unavailable after you copy something in Paint.

CAUSE

Paint does not support this feature.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, create a link to a complete bitmap document. In Paint, save the bitmap image you want to link as a bitmap document, and then close Paint. Link the bitmap document in the other program as an object.
