  • Microsoft Office for the Macintosh, versions 3.0-CD, 4.2.1-CD, 4.2.1a-CD

SUMMARY

When you use Norton Utilities, version 2.0, Norton Disk Doctor to check a CD ROM drive containing Microsoft Office, Norton Disk Doctor may report that there are problems on the disk.

MORE INFORMATION

With the Norton Utilities, version 2.0, Norton Disk Doctor, you can scan your drives for various problems and Disk Doctor will generate a report if it finds anything wrong. When you run Norton Disk Doctor on the versions of Microsoft Office listed above, you might receive a message in a dialog box stating:

The Volume Information Block contains invalid information.

Farther down, the dialog box states:

The Volume Information Block on this disk appears to be damaged
   (invalid number of free blocks).

Because this is a CD, you are unable to correct this problem, even though the dialog recommends that you fix the problem.

Despite the warnings about problems with the CD disk, there is nothing wrong with the CD. When you install Microsoft Office from the CD, the Setup program should run successfully.
