Competitive Upgrade Does Not Recognize Claris Works

SYMPTOMS

When you install the competitive upgrade version of Microsoft Office for the Macintosh, version 4.2.1a, Claris Works is not recognized as a qualifying upgrade product even though it is installed on the hard disk. The following dialog box is displayed:

   Setup has searched your hard disk, but cannot find any of the
   qualifying products listed on the Microsoft office 4.2 box.

   Insert the setup disk for one of the qualifying products in the
   floppy drive.

CAUSE

The competitive upgrade of Microsoft Office 4.2.1a does not search the hard disk for Claris Works.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, do the following when you receive the "Setup has searched your hard disk..." dialog box and the Microsoft Office setup disk is ejected from the disk drive:

  1. Remove the Office disk from the drive.

  2. Insert the Claris Works Setup Disk 1 in the drive.

    The computer will read the disk for a moment and then eject it.

  3. When the disk is ejected, re-insert the Microsoft Office Setup Disk 1 in the drive, and click Continue.

Setup should continue normally.
