The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office Small Business Pack for Office 95, version 1.0
  • Microsoft Office Professional for Windows 95, version 7.0
  • Microsoft Windows NT operating system version 3.1

SYMPTOMS

Although Microsoft Office Small Business Pack for Windows 95 templates will work correctly on the Windows NT operating system, you will encounter certain limitations when you run this add-on product under NT.

NOTE: Office Small Business Pack was designed for Windows 95; its performance cannot be guaranteed on Windows NT systems.

When you install Office Small Business Pack, the following buttons are not installed to the Office Small Business Pack toolbar on the Office Shortcut Bar:

   Financial
   Management
   Marketing
   Operations
   Planning
   Sales

Small Business Pack Setup successfully installs the Welcome, Business Guide, and Small Business Pack Help buttons to the Small Business Pack toolbar.

CAUSE

The buttons are links to the directories that contain shortcuts to the Small Business Pack templates. Windows NT does not support shortcuts; therefore, the template shortcuts in these directories will not work in File Manager either.

WORKAROUND

To access the Small Business Pack templates and databases, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Use the following steps to create custom toolbars on the Office

Shortcut bar based on the Financial, Management, Marketing,
Operations, Planning, and Sales folders (directories):

          a. Use the right mouse button to click a blank area of the Office
Shortcut bar, and then click the Customize option on the
             shortcut menu.

          b. Click the Toolbars tab and click the Add Toolbar button.

          c. Select the "Make Toolbar for this Folder:" option and click
             the Browse button.

          d. Choose the Financial folder in the My Documents folder on the
             hard disk and choose OK.

          e. Click OK again to exit the Customize dialog box.

          f. Repeat steps a-e to add additional toolbars for the remaining
             template folders.

Method 2: Access each template in the specified locations mentioned in the
Readme.txt file in Section 8, "Running Under The NT Operating
System," located in the Msoffice\Small Business Pack\Setup
          folder.
